The Plain White T's iconic song 'Hey There Delilah' has finally got a Delilah verse, and fans are saying they thought the song couldn't get any better until they heard it.
Lead singer of The Plain White T's Tom Higgenson wanted a Delilah verse on the song. The year is 2005, you've got a Nokia phone and some tunes downloaded onto it. There's a new band called The Plain White T's, and they've just released a song called 'Hey There Delilah,' so you plug in your wired headphones on the bus and give it a whirl.
The lyrics come into your ears, "Hey there, Delilah, what's it like in New York City? I'm a thousand miles away, but girl, tonight, you look so pretty, Yes, you do". The whole world is obsessed with the song, just like you are. You've got it on repeat.
21 Years Later
Now, 21 years later, it's the kind of song that you'll acknowledge with friends if it comes on – and it might even evoke a little tear in the eye depending on your romantic situation at the time of its release. And the likelihood is you've probably always been curious about what Delilah's point of view on the romantic song was.
Singer Lolo explained how she came to write Delilah's verse of the original hit, saying she dreamt it up during lockdown and contacted lead singer Tom Higgenson with what she'd done.
During the Covid pandemic, Lolo spent her days dancing in her room on TikTok. But then one day, she did a cover of one of her "favourite songs". She "switched it to be from the other point of view, so it's actually from Delilah's point of view". And this simple idea was life-changing.

Lolo was thrilled that band member Tom had noticed her and liked her video. Then, six years later, The Plain White T's approached her and asked her to re-release the song with them.

Lolo has been widely praised for her verse, which has now been officially released. Millennials everywhere are internally screaming, because Lolo's verse is perfect. In the comments, someone wrote: "I didn't think one of my fav songs could get better. But it did, thanks to you. Absolutely love this".
