Future Yard has revealed the programme of events for its new 600-capacity crowdfunded live venue, which is set to open its doors in Birkenhead before the end of the year. The expansion will enable the venue to host more than 50 additional shows per year, on top of around 150 extra performance opportunities for local artists within the live room.
Expansion details and community impact
The project will also provide 2,000 extra hours of practical experience for Sound Check trainees and space for 3,500 children a year to access Future Yard's new School's Music Curriculum. This will be delivered within 12 acoustically treated mixed-use studio and teaching spaces that connect the new venue to Future Yard's existing live space.
Future Yard was established in 2020, bringing new national and international artists to the region, often for the first time, and providing early opportunities for emerging local talent.
Headline acts for the Autumn/Winter season
Leading the inaugural Autumn/Winter programme announcement are Mercury Prize shortlisted Scottish multi-instrumentalist corto.alto, who return to Future Yard in November after a sold-out show earlier this year. There will also be performances from Detroit hip hop icon Xzibit, critically acclaimed experimental art-rock quintet Squid, and Brit Award-winning synth pop singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone.
