The latest series of ITV's The Masked Singer has sparked a major fan theory, with viewers overwhelmingly convinced they have identified the celebrity behind the Toastie costume.
A Diva Performance Sparks Speculation
During Saturday's episode, the character delivered a sensational rendition of Whitney Houston's classic Run to You from The Bodyguard. The powerful performance left the judging panel, including Maya Jama, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, and Mo Gilligan, visibly stunned and prompted chants from the live audience.
Maya Jama was particularly impressed, noting the vocal prowess on display. She remarked: 'This is a really trained voice. As much as that side face throws you off... I think there's a diva in there... a big diva.'
X Factor Star Named as Prime Suspect
Almost immediately, fans took to social media platform X to share their verdict. The consensus pointed squarely at former X Factor finalist and Loose Women panellist Brenda Edwards.
Viewers flooded the site with comments such as: 'Brenda Edwards is a good shout for Toastie', 'I'm 100% convinced Toastie is Brenda Edwards', and 'Toastie is Brenda Edwards idc what anyone says'. Others recalled that Edwards had performed at a Bolton Wanderers Christmas carol concert, linking to a clue.
The speculation was so widespread that one fan summarised the collective thought process: 'Toastie - I thought Brenda Edwards, sounded like her and I missed the clues.'
First Celebrity Unmasked in Series Shocker
The new series, which features a fresh line-up of stars in elaborate disguises, began with an early surprise as the first contestant was revealed. Disc Jockey found themselves in the bottom two after performing Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan.
After losing a vote against Gargoyle, the mystery star had to remove their mask. The panel's guesses, which included Annie Mac, Jill Scott, Mary Berry, Sara Cox, and Bonnie Tyler, were all incorrect.
The reveal confirmed Alex Jones, presenter of The One Show, as the celebrity behind the decks. A relieved Jones, 48, told host Joel Dommett: 'I have had a lot of fun... it's the most bizarre experience of my life!' She dedicated her performance to her three children, Teddy, Kit, and Annie.
Following her exit, Jones explained that appearing on the show was a deliberate attempt to step outside her comfort zone, marking a memorable start to the latest season of the popular ITV guessing game.
