Emily Atack has offered followers a peek inside her "dream" new home, after making a series of major decor updates. The Inbetweeners star had famously lived in London since the age of 16, but chose to leave the capital city for a quiet countryside retreat in Bedfordshire alongside her fiancé, Alistair Garner, and their two-year-old son, Barney.
A Glimpse Inside the Renovated Entrance Hall
Now, the family of three live in a charming village in an idyllic countryside property boasting period features like hardwood flooring, large traditional sash windows, exposed brick walls, and wooden panelling.
In a recent post to her Instagram stories, Emily revealed progress on her entrance hall, showcasing the turned staircase which has been painted in a deep burgundy tone and enhanced by a plush and comfortable stair runner.
The bottom half of the walls have been fitted with tongue-and-groove panelling in a cosy, creamy-white colour. The top half of the walls feature wallpaper with a trailing ivy-pattern, bringing an element of the surrounding countryside into the property.
Emily's Stylish Look and Personal Touch
In the photo posted online, The Inbetweeners star was stood on the tiled floor at the base of the stairs. She displayed a slender silhouette in a short, black unitard with a white strappy top visible from underneath.
The actress and comedian styled her signature blonde hair in a relaxed plait which draped over one shoulder, with a pair of black sunglasses perched atop her head. She coordinated with her burgundy staircase by wearing a pair of trainers in a matching shade.
In text overlaying the picture, Emily wrote: "Particularly loving this area of the house at the moment and all the colours. I smile every time I look at these tiles from Original Style."
From The Inbetweeners to Country Life
Emily initially rose to fame portraying Charlotte Hinchcliffe in the hugely popular E4 comedy series The Inbetweeners, which broadcast from 2008 to 2010.
The actress has spoken candidly about the considerable - and frequently unwelcome - focus on her appearance following her time on the show, alongside the ongoing remarks about her body and weight throughout her professional journey.
She experienced a brief reprieve from such scrutiny while pregnant with her son, though regrettably, this proved temporary.
Reflections on Pregnancy and Body Image
In November 2024, The Rivals actress appeared on Jamie Laing's Great Company podcast, where she reflected on the sense of freedom she experienced during pregnancy.
She explained: "There's something quite liberating about having a baby. Your body goes through so much and you genuinely look at your body as a completely different vessel."
"Being pregnant and being desexualised, looking at your body, you create a human inside you, then you give birth to your child - which, by the way, is mental - you get home and the first thing people say to you is, 'When are you going to get back in the gym?'"
Emily continued: "Are you kidding? I've just created a human, I am exhausted! I've just tried to push a human out of me and had it ripped out of my stomach."
"The last thing I want to do is go to the gym but the first thing you're expected to do is get back into shape. Where's the 'congratulations for being a mother?' Instead, it's 'when are you going to get the baby weight off?'"
At the time, Emily disclosed she had "put on more weight since giving birth" but wasn't experiencing any pressure to hurry back to the gym, opting instead to simply "enjoy" the post-birth baby bubble.
