Chico Slimani's Journey from X Factor Star to Number One Author
Chico Slimani: From X Factor to Wellness Guru

Chico Slimani's Remarkable Career Transformation

Chico Slimani, the entertainer who once made waves on ITV's The X Factor, has achieved a new milestone as a number one selling author, marking a profound shift in his professional journey. This change was sparked by personal heartbreak, as he lost multiple family members to cancer, driving him to explore wellness and support for others facing similar challenges.

From Music Charts to Bestseller Lists

In 2005, Chico Slimani captivated audiences on the second series of The X Factor, mentored by Sharon Osbourne and reaching the quarter finals. His music career peaked with the chart-topping single It's Chico Time, which famously knocked Madonna off the number one spot in the UK. Now, over two decades later, he has returned to the top of the charts, but this time as an author with his book The Secret 19, which has become a number one seller on Amazon.

The book focuses on cancer prevention, diagnosis, and support, aimed at patients, their loved ones, and especially those at stage four who have been told nothing more can be done. Chico explained, "I lost my little brother, five uncles, and about 30 of my nearest and dearest to cancer, so I wrote this book to help people understand and take control of their health." He emphasizes that knowledge empowers individuals to connect with their immune systems, which he believes is key to healing.

Wellness Retreats and Global Impact

Beyond his literary success, Chico has expanded his wellness efforts by running breath retreats worldwide. These retreats, which started in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, now span locations such as Portugal, Croatia, Cyprus, the UK, Thailand, Bali, and soon Machu Picchu. They incorporate activities like yoga, movement, and breath work, which Chico pioneered, aiming to reduce stress and improve mental health.

"It's literally changing people's lives," he said. "They arrive totally stressed and leave as different people. This work feeds the soul, unlike stage entertainment, which feeds the ego." He finds this role incredibly satisfying, especially given the rising concerns around mental health in recent years.

Future Ventures and Television Prospects

As Chico reflects on 21 years since his X Factor appearance, he hints at potential television projects. Speaking on behalf of Zingo Bingo, he teased ideas for a celebrity retreat show, saying, "There is some interest in my pitches, and one concept involves a celebrity retreat that could showcase the journey from fears to cheers." Fans may soon see him back on screen, blending his entertainment roots with his wellness expertise.

Currently, Chico is also rehearsing for a charity pantomime at The Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to both performance and philanthropy. His story highlights a unique evolution from pop star to wellness advocate, driven by personal loss and a desire to make a meaningful difference.
