A new music festival, Blackpool: Indie By The Sea, will take place at the Winter Gardens in Lancashire over the May Bank Holiday next year, on Saturday 1 May and Sunday 2 May. Tickets go on sale this week.
Lineup and after parties
The festival is expected to host indie bands and songwriters who shaped British guitar music from the end of the 1980s through the 1990s and beyond. Across the two days, the Winter Gardens will feature a run of acts representing Madchester, Britpop and the guitar music that followed.
The lineup so far includes Ocean Colour Scene, Peter Hook & The Light, Embrace, Black Grape, Paul Draper, and The Wedding Present, among others. After parties will be hosted by Bez, of Happy Mondays and Black Grape, and broadcaster and journalist John Robb.

Blackpool: Indie By The Sea was announced on Tuesday, August 25. Tickets will be available via an online Ticketmaster sale on Friday, August 28, with a general sale starting at 10am. An O2 Presale is currently taking place for those with access.
The full announced lineup includes Ocean Colour Scene, Peter Hook & The Light, Embrace, Black Grape, Paul Draper, The Wedding Present, Space, Northside, The Primitives, Cud, Ben Ottewell, Mark Morriss, James Walsh, and Ian Prowse.
