Netflix has confirmed that one of its biggest films of 2026, War Machine, will return for a sequel. The movie, which debuted in March, dominated the streamer's charts for weeks and has become one of Netflix's top 10 films of all time with 139,900,000 views.

Plot and Sequel Details
War Machine follows a group of recruits in the final stages of the US Army Ranger Selection; after their training exercise goes awry, they find themselves fighting for their lives. The military sci-fi film will see the return of lead star Alan Ritchson and director Patrick Hughes. Filmmaker Hughes, known for The Hitman's Bodyguard and its sequel, will co-write the script with James Beaufort.
According to Variety, the plot for the sequel is not yet clear, but the first film ended on an ambiguous note. War Machine concluded with the alien machine robot being defeated after 81 led it into a trap in a quarry. However, a news report suggests an alien invasion is imminent, as countless pods similar to the one containing the murderous robot have been found across the planet. The report also indicates that many thousands more pods are heading to Earth, requiring a global defense response.
