Ridley Scott's latest film, The Dog Stars, is out now, starring Jacob Elordi as a former pilot surviving after a pandemic. The sci-fi drama, based on the 2012 novel, also features Margaret Qualley as a medic and love interest, and Josh Brolin as a former marine.

Colony, from Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho, is a Korean zombie horror where the undead share a hive mind. One Night Only is a romcom from Will Gluck starring Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro, set in a world where premarital sex is illegal except for one night a year. Gregg Araki's I Want Your Sex features Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman in a BDSM relationship.
On stage, Kimberly Akimbo runs at Hampstead Theatre in London until 7 November. The five-time Tony-winning musical stars Maria Friedman. King Lear, directed by Titas Halder and starring Ian McDiarmid, plays at the Crucible in Sheffield from 29 August to 19 September.
Music and Gigs
Forwards festival takes place in Bristol on 29 and 30 August, headlined by Tems, Little Simz and Amyl and the Sniffers. A$AP Rocky tours UK arenas from 30 August to 5 September, following his January album Don't Be Dumb. The Gesualdo Six and Colin Currie Group perform together at the Royal Albert Hall on 2 September, marking Steve Reich's 90th birthday.
New albums this week include Flowerovlove's debut Mini Skirt Warrior, Interpol's This Mirror Weighs a Ton, Erykah Badu and the Alchemist's Before the World Blows: The Abi and Alan Experiment, and Alabama Shakes' I Must Be Dreaming.
Streaming and Gaming
Chad Powers season two arrives on Disney+ on 3 September, starring Glen Powell. Vigil series three starts on BBC One on 30 August, with Suranne Jones investigating a murder at an Arctic research station. The Gentlemen season two lands on Netflix on 3 September with Hugh Bonneville and Maya Jama joining the cast.
Games out this week include Orbitals on Nintendo Switch 2, a local co-op puzzle-platformer, and The Blood of Dawnwalker on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, a dark fantasy RPG set in an alternative 14th-century Europe.
