The original Sugababes have announced the release of their first album in more than two decades. The self-titled record will be the first from the founding trio – Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy – since their debut album One Touch in 2000 and will be released in February.
New single and album details
The English girl group will also release a brand new single, Ghost, on Thursday. The 12-track record was co-written by the members alongside a number of UK songwriters and producers and will include the tracks Jungle, Weeds and Shook, all released last year.
The cover art for the album was shared in a post on Instagram, which was captioned: “We’ve poured so much into this record and the more it came together, the clearer it became that there was only one thing we could call it: ‘SUGABABES’.”
Band history and reunion
The group formed as teenagers in London in 1998 and released the song Overload in 2000. Internal divisions saw a rotation of different members and the release of hit songs Push The Button and About You Now.
Members of the original line-up each pursued solo careers before reuniting in 2012, but they regained the name Sugababes only in 2019. The group will also release a new music video for the lead single, premiering at 5pm on Thursday.
