Bethesda Game Studios has hinted at a significant announcement regarding Starfield, potentially dropping as early as this week. The official X account responded to a PC Gamer article, stating: 'We ran this by Todd and he said his only visionary power is seeing running lanes in EA College Football 26. He appreciates all the passionate feedback on Starfield and we’ll have more to share next week.' This tease, posted on Friday, 13 March, points to imminent news.
Industry speculation suggests the reveal could be the long-rumoured 'Starfield 2.0' update, which creators and press reportedly saw late last year under a strict embargo. Bethesda creative producer Tim Lamb previously hinted at improvements to space gameplay, new game systems and 'smaller delights', likely addressing loading screen criticisms by enhancing the Creation Engine - a move that may also benefit future Elder Scrolls titles.
Beyond gameplay refinements, a PlayStation 5 port is widely expected, despite Starfield's current exclusivity to PC and Xbox Series X|S. There is no confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 version, though major optimisation would be required. Additionally, Bethesda has cryptically teased a second expansion, 'Terran Armada', though details and a release date remain unconfirmed.
With the quality-of-life update anticipated to precede any new expansion, fans can expect more concrete information by the end of this week.
