Fans of light-hearted detective dramas like Death in Paradise can start getting excited as a popular mystery series has seen some A-list stars join the cast. The show Only Murders in the Building, which airs on Hulu and Disney+, is set to return with season six following its renewal in October 2025.
Star-Studded New Cast Members
Filming for the sixth season began in London in May 2026, and Disney has confirmed some huge stars have joined the recurring cast. Jennifer Saunders from Absolutely Fabulous has been brought on board, along with Sean Teale from Skins, Simone Ashley of Bridgerton fame, Amar Chadha-Patel from Willow, and Rhea Norwood from Heartstopper. Also joining the cast in guest roles are Matthew Beard from The Imitation Game and Sharon Horgan from Bad Sisters.
Returning Favorites
Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are all reprising their roles in the series, which has historically featured big stars like Meryl Streep, Renée Zellweger, and Keegan-Michael Key. The storyline for the latest instalment is being kept under wraps, but it marks the first time the show is venturing overseas, filming in the UK.
Season Five Cliffhanger
In the final moments of season five, the trio of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel listened to Cinda Canning's (Tina Fey) newest true-crime podcast. The podcast recalled the story of a red-haired woman accused of killing a royal descendant in London, whom Cinda claimed was innocent and sent to the US for safety. Shortly after, the red-haired woman staggered to the gates of the Arconia, but she was revealed to be Cinda herself, having been brutally attacked in relation to this London-based royal scandal. Fans presumed the trio's next mission would be to find out what happened to Cinda and how she came to be caught up in the scandal.
Filming Begins in London
Actress Gomez shared the news of the first day of filming for season six when she reposted a photo from the show's official Instagram account. The image showed Gomez with her co-stars in London and was captioned 'Season 6 Day 1!' with a Union Jack flag emoji. A release date for season six is yet to be announced, but it is hoped it will be before the end of 2026.
