Skate, the long-awaited free-to-play skateboarding game, will launch in early access on September 16, 2025, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC. The game was announced during the pandemic and has undergone extensive closed testing with player feedback.
The early access release will not include the full scope of content. Key features such as Darksliders, Impossible tricks, replay editor improvements, and party voice chat will be added through seasonal updates post-launch. The game uses the rebuilt Flick-It System on Frostbite engine, with new tricks and a Skatepedia tutorial guide.
Skate will be free to play with cosmetic-only microtransactions; no power items or gear that affect gameplay will be sold. This early access strategy is unusual for EA but allows the developer, Full Circle, to build the game with community feedback before a full release, which is likely one to two years away.
