Bank Holiday Monday is here, and for those planning to spend it on the sofa, a social media account that regularly recommends under-appreciated TV shows and movies has suggested six short miniseries available on major streaming services including Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and Disney+. All six are short enough that every episode could be watched in a single day.
The recommendations were posted on X, formerly Twitter, by the Spanish-language account @Fansdepantallas.
The Stolen Girl
This five-episode miniseries is an adaptation of the Alex Dahl novel Playdate. It depicts the story of a mother desperately looking for her missing daughter, who disappeared after a sleepover at a friend's house. It stars Holliday Grainger, Ambika Mod, Denise Gough, and Jim Sturgess.

The Narrow Road to the Deep North
Starring Jacob Elordi, this Australian miniseries follows one man across three periods of his life - before deployment in World War Two, in a Japanese prisoner of war camp, and four decades later as an old man reflecting on his life. The five-episode series also stars Game of Thrones' Ciarán Hinds.

Toxic Town
A four-episode miniseries based on a real case in which contaminated soil from a closed steelworks in Corby, Northamptonshire, was found to have led to children being born with birth defects. It stars Doctor Who's Jodie Whittaker, Sex Education's Aimee Lou Wood, and Trainspotting's Robert Carlyle, and was created by Jack Thorne, the man behind last year's Adolescence.

The Glass Dome
A Swedish crime drama series consisting of six episodes, The Glass Dome stars Léonie Vincent, Johan Hedenberg, and Johan Rheborg.

The Breakthrough
Another Swedish crime show, this four-episode series is based on the real-life murders of an eight-year-old boy and a 56-year-old woman in Linköping, Sweden, in 2004, which was solved 16 years later with the help of ancestral DNA. It stars Peter Eggers, Mattias Nordkvist, and Jessica Liedberg.

A six-episode Australian miniseries, The Survivors is based on a 2020 novel by Jane Harper, set in a small coastal town 15 years after a deadly storm. It stars Charlie Vickers, best known as Sauron in Amazon Prime's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, along with Yerin Ha, and Robyn Malcolm.
