Samuel West has hinted that Siegfried Farnon may be falling in love in the upcoming seventh series of All Creatures Great and Small, which premieres on Channel 5 on Thursday, 17 September.
The actor, speaking ahead of the new series, suggested the Yorkshire veterinarian is in a happier place than he has been for years, with a blossoming romance with Dorothy (Maimie McCoy) on the cards. The pair were last seen sharing a kiss beneath the mistletoe at The Drovers during the 2025 Christmas special.
West on Siegfried's happiness
West said: "I start series 7 probably in a happier place than I've been for many years. There's a brilliant, attractive, clever, funny, stylish woman who looks at me with regard and possibly even love."
He added: "She's been out of my life for five years, and not through any fault of my own, unusually with Siegfriend, who has upset a few in the past. I mean, I like her so much when she says she doesn't like Gilbert and Sullivan, I just go, oh, that's interesting. So it must be love."
Tribute to co-star Maimie McCoy
Paying tribute to his co-star, West said: "Working with Maimie is extraordinary. I loved it five years ago, and it feels like she's hardly been away. I think we all felt that, actually. She's been a wonderful, wonderful addition, and it's a sign of possible happiness on the horizon, which is rare for me."
Teasing the future of Siegfried's relationship, West explained: "I've realised over the years that Siegfried always knows, sometimes before a lot of other people do, what he thinks and assumes that everyone else knows what he thinks, and sometimes leaves them behind and terribly confused."
New series details
He added: "But it sometimes takes a long time, and possibly a series or two, for him to discover how he feels. And I think that principle is played out in a lot of interesting details in series seven. I'm not going to say any more than that."
