Resident Alien: Best Sci-Fi Show Now on Netflix

Sci-fi fans may have found their next Netflix binge-watch this weekend. The American comedy series Resident Alien, starring Alan Tudyk from Firefly, is already streaming on Netflix with its first two seasons, and the third season is expected to arrive soon.

Plot Overview

The show follows an extraterrestrial who crash-lands in the small town of Patience, Colorado. The alien, sent to wipe out humanity, kills a doctor on holiday and assumes his identity as 'Harry Vanderspeigle'. He soon becomes the town's doctor and forms a bond with the mayor's young son, who can see his true alien form. Despite knowing nothing about medicine, the alien learns by watching the TV series Law & Order.

Moral Dilemma

Over time, the alien wrestles with the moral quandary of his mission as he bonds with the humans of Patience. Ultimately, he decides to protect humanity from new otherworldly threats instead of destroying it.

Fans have praised the show on IMDb. One 10/10 review titled 'The best TV show in years' said: 'I love this show. It's fresh, original and hilarious. The acting is top notch, especially Alan Tudyk, and his interactions with the little boy are the absolute best.' Another 10/10 review noted: 'It has the right blend of comedy and drama with a bit of sci-fi thrown in as a backdrop.' A 9/10 review called it 'Perfect dark humour' with 'good acting, very funny yet moving story.'
