Sony Slashes PS5 Price by £90 in UK Autumn Sale

Sony has reduced the price of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition by £90 and the standard PS5 Slim by £45 in a limited-time autumn sale in the UK. The Digital Edition now costs £339.99, down from £429.99, while the disc-drive model is available for £434.99, reduced from £479.99.

The discounts are available exclusively through PlayStation Direct and will run until October 1, 2025. Customers can also purchase bundles including an extra DualSense controller at the same reduced prices.

The price cuts come after several increases during the PS5 generation, including a £40 hike on the Digital Edition earlier this year. Sony has not officially explained the price rises, but they are believed to be linked to US import tariffs introduced under former President Trump, which have led many companies to spread cost increases globally.

The sale coincides with the upcoming release of the PS5 exclusive Ghost of Yōtei on October 2, and follows other major titles such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Returnal, and Astro Bot. Future exclusives include Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Insomniac’s Wolverine, and Saros from Housemarque.

A Sony State of Play presentation is rumoured for next week, potentially showcasing a God of War spin-off or Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Third-party titles such as Resident Evil Requiem and 007 First Light are also expected in 2025 and 2026.
