PlayStation 5 players in the UK can secure the latest Silent Hill title at a substantially lower price, with a cashback offer cutting the cost to £27.60. The game launched across multiple platforms last week.
Rather than paying full price for the game, some gamers could slash as much as £15 off their purchase. Argos is listing a physical copy for £42.99, but a cashback offer from TopCashback could reduce the cost considerably. TopCashback is providing customers who are both new to the platform and to Argos the chance to obtain the game for £27.60.
Cashback deal details
New TopCashback members and existing Argos shoppers can acquire the game for only marginally more at £27.63 once cashback is deducted. Shoppers should note that while click and collect is free with Argos, standard delivery will cost an extra £4.95.
Gamers will assume the role of Simon Ordell as he travels to the UK-inspired island of St. Amelia, discovering a town engulfed by a distinctly familiar thick fog. As players navigate the town, they will piece together its fractured history.
Gameplay and features
While Silent Hill: Townfall puts players in first-person — something the series hasn't seen for quite some time — Konami has pledged to maintain 'the core identity of psychological horror that the series is renowned for', while introducing a brand new storyline. The game lets you explore a seemingly abandoned island.
The game also places emphasis on both tactical and combat-driven gameplay, giving players the option to wield melee weapons as well as firearms in battles against a host of terrifying creatures. True to the survival horror genre, the title also incorporates a variety of puzzles for players to crack, with a CRTV portable television serving as a key tool for uncovering vital clues.
Player reception
Players who already grabbed Silent Hill: Townfall praised it on Metacritic, with one writing: "This game is a masterpiece, really good atmosphere, engaging story, really good graphics 10/10."
Another added: "The setting, gameplay, audio, all of it is incredible. This game has instantly become my second-favourite Silent Hill game, topped only by the original Silent Hill 2. Really hope the devs get a chance to make another."
A third said: "I love the game they should do more. I love the radio and spooky Scotland. The gun is also very cool."
A fourth added: "Game was awesome. Might play again to get another ending. IMO the best Silent Hill since SH2 and 3. For most of the game it’s very much like SH2 but the player hits way lighter and enemies hit way harder, and its first person."
A fifth said: "I honestly really loved this game, by the time I finished the game and wrapped the story up I actually though it was a pretty refreshing take on the series, the atmosphere was great, the story was different in a good way, I personally think this game had some of the most challenging puzzles in the series, I really really enjoyed my time with this game and I’m excited to do a ng+ run, definitely a solid entry to the series."
However, one less pleased player wrote: "Overall a good game with a great setting, good characters and a good story. The stealth sections are pretty rough, i found them a slog to get through. Some of the puzzles without a guide make absolutely no sense."
Another added: "The puzzles are just tedious and didn't give me any satisfaction upon completion. Two parts of the game force you to wait around with nothing to do. Despite the high amount of visual detail, the game continues to stutter repeatedly."
