PlayStation Plus subscribers are counting down to the release of the free PS5 Essentials for July 2026. After making fans wait longer than usual, Sony officially announced the PS Plus games last week, including the addition of a heavyweight blockbuster as the next headliner. Three games will join the line-up in July: a recent Call of Duty release, a hidden gem action RPG, and a tactical role-playing game with tabletop elements. The new games will replace the current line-up, meaning subscribers should hurry if they haven't redeemed the June titles.

The next batch of PS Plus Essentials has a July 7 release date and a 9am BST UK release time. That's 1am PT / 4am ET for fans in the US, and 10am CET for European players. Subscribers have until August 4 to add the games to their library before a new selection joins the line-up.

The new PS Plus line-up is headlined by military first-person shooter Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, which debuted on console and PC in 2023. A reboot of the 2011 original, Modern Warfare 3 is a cross-gen release playable on PS4 or PS5. It features an epic campaign mode where Captain Price and Task Force 141 face off against Vladimir Makarov, alongside the usual multiplayer maps and modes, as well as Zombies on one of the mode's largest maps.
If subscribers already own Modern Warfare 3, they might be more excited to try hidden gem action RPG CrossCode, which has a 93% rating on Steam. The game combines classic pixel art visuals with fast-paced combat and satisfying puzzles. Finally, PS Plus subscribers can grab turn-based tactical RPG For the King 2, which supports four-player co-operative play.

Subscribers have until 9am BST on July 7 to claim the current PS Plus Essentials for June 2026, headlined by Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition. Described as essentially "Honey I Shrunk the Kids: The Game," Grounded shrinks players down to the size of an ant and drops them into a back garden, where they must scavenge, build shelter, and battle the elements to survive. This is also the last chance to grab Super Smash Bros-inspired Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
