The latest free update for the deck-building football manager game NUTMEG!, released by UK independent publisher Secret Mode, allows players to rewrite World Cup history with new 'what if' scenarios and classic matches. The update, launched to coincide with the 2026 World Cup, introduces five World Championship matches based on historic clashes, including the infamous 1986 England vs Argentina match featuring Diego Maradona's 'Hand of God' goal.
New World Cup Scenarios and League Cup
Players can now replay iconic World Cup games or explore fantasy encounters, such as a rematch between England and Argentina in 1990, the first World Cup after Maradona's famous goal. The update also adds the League Cup, called the Egg Cup in-game, where 56 teams compete in seven knockout matches throughout a season. Winning cup matches grants bragging rights, while losing leads to taunts from rivals.
Gaffer Mode and Delegated XI Clipboard
A new Gaffer Mode tightens financial constraints, increases the length and difficulty of broadcasted matches, and adds extra challenges. Additionally, a delegated XI selection clipboard gives players greater control over team selection during delegated matches, allowing them to create a dream team for every match.
Bug Fixes and Quality-of-Life Improvements
Alongside these features, Secret Mode has released a host of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements to enhance the player experience. NUTMEG!, which launched in March 2025, is available exclusively on PC.
