Netflix is set to premiere an exclusive extended preview of Grand Theft Auto VI this week. Titled GTA VI: An Extended Look, the showcase will debut at 8pm BST on Thursday, August 27, and promises to reveal 'more about the game that will define the next era of entertainment'.
What to Expect from the Showcase
Specific details about the content of the preview remain unconfirmed, but reports in Vice suggest it will run for approximately 20 minutes. Fans anticipate a deep dive into gameplay and the revamped Vice City setting, with the game centring around protagonists Lucia and Jason.
The partnership between Netflix and Rockstar Games is being described as the 'first of its kind', with the streaming giant stating it 'represents the next generation of storytelling and content on Netflix'.
How to Watch for Free
As the preview will initially broadcast exclusively on Netflix, viewers will need a subscription. However, Sky is offering a free Netflix subscription with its TV streaming packages, which now start at £15 per month for the Essential TV bundle.
This package includes full access to Netflix's film and TV library, along with around 100 channels such as Sky Atlantic and discovery+ at no extra cost. Netflix is also included with Sky's £24 Ultimate TV bundle, which features HBO Max, Disney+ and 35 more channels.
Virgin Media also provides free Netflix with its packages, but these start at a higher £32.99. This Entertainment bundle includes 200 channels and 516Mbps fibre broadband.
Pricing and Additional Details
Both Sky and Virgin contracts are expected to see price increases at least twice during the 24-month term. Sky has not confirmed next year's prices, but Virgin has announced its Entertainment bundle will rise to £36.99 from April 2027 and £40.99 from April 2028.
Brandon Riegg, Netflix's VP of Nonfiction Series, said: "The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we're honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first. It's a reflection of what we hope Netflix is becoming: a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can find the biggest possible audience."
GTA VI: An Extended Look will also air on Rockstar's YouTube at 2am on August 28, following Netflix's six-hour exclusivity window. Ahead of launch, a separate deal allows gamers to save more than £15 when pre-ordering GTA VI for PS5.
At Argos, the game's physical edition – which includes a download code rather than a disc – usually costs £67.99, but this can be reduced to £52.37 by shopping through TopCashback. New members receive a £15 welcome payment when spending £15 or more, plus cashback at Argos. These bonuses effectively reduce GTA VI to £52.37 after cashback, saving £15.62 from the usual price. Only new members who are also new Argos customers can take advantage of this deal, while new members who already shop at Argos will pay a slightly higher £52.71 after cashback.
Alternatively, retailers like Amazon and The Game Collection are taking GTA VI pre-orders for £67.95.
