The Missouri Gaming Commission has praised the rollout of legal sports betting in the state as 'successful', with hundreds of thousands of accounts activated on the first day. Missouri became the 39th state to legalise sports betting on 1 December, the first to do so in 2025, and the first since North Carolina in March 2024.
Major operators including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars and Fanatics have launched online sportsbooks, with some also opening retail locations. The commission noted the launch was 'largely uneventful' and credited its staff for meeting the constitutional deadline of 1 December.
Data from GeoComply, a geolocation services firm, recorded 2.6 million geolocation checks across the state in the first 24 hours, with over 250,000 active accounts. CEO Kip Levin described the launch as 'remarkable', adding that 'tens of thousands of Missourians immediately joined safe, regulated platforms'.
