Meghan Markle is reportedly in "early talks" to star opposite Theo James in the third series of Netflix's The Gentlemen, according to trade publication Deadline. Director Guy Ritchie is said to be enthusiastic about securing her involvement, sparking speculation about a potential return to the screen.
However, sources have moved quickly to dampen expectations, stressing "the deal wasn't done yet" and highlighting that Netflix is yet to formally commission another series. They've also confirmed that "a role hasn't yet been identified" for Meghan.
Return to the UK and acting proposals
Meghan is preparing for a return to the UK alongside Prince Harry and their children, which has fuelled rumours about her acting future. HELLO! magazine cites a source with knowledge of the family's affairs who suggests Meghan has fielded several proposals and is weighing up a possible return to acting.
"There have been inquiries in the entertainment space recently, and things that she is considering, but nothing is firm yet", the insider told the publication, emphasising, "There are only conversations."
Career background and recent TV work
Meghan rose to prominence portraying paralegal Rachel Zane in Suits, while fans will recall her appearances in Hallmark productions and mainstream films such as Horrible Bosses and Remember Me. The Duchess stepped back from acting following her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018 at St George's Chapel, describing it to the BBC as a "new chapter".
That said, Meghan hasn't entirely abandoned television, having featured in the 2022 Netflix documentary series Harry and Meghan, while also presenting her own cookery and lifestyle programme, With Love, Meghan. In 2022, she declared she was "done" with acting, making her feelings clear to Variety, while leaving the door slightly ajar for fans by adding: "I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not."
