The revelation came during press for Sir Christopher Nolan's upcoming blockbuster The Odyssey, which stars Damon as Odysseus and Holland as his son, Telemachus. When Holland confessed which movie he had missed, Damon replied, “Are you f***ing kidding me?”

According to Complex, the Spider-Man star admitted, “I don't know why I've never seen it. I know that I would love it, but it's just never been a movie I've put on.” The film in question is the 1999 sci-fi classic The Matrix, starring Keanu Reeves as Neo, a computer hacker who discovers that reality is a simulation controlled by intelligent machines. The movie is widely regarded as a groundbreaking work of science fiction, exploring philosophical themes such as Christianity and Marxism.

Damon responded with a mix of shock and envy, saying, “I’m so jealous you get to see that for the first time. I wonder if it’ll feel as groundbreaking to you as so much has been subsequently based on it.” The Matrix is currently streaming on HBO Max.
