Marvel's Blade, currently in development at Arkane's Lyon studio, was notably absent from the recent Xbox Games Showcase, leading to concerns among fans. However, sources confirm that development is proceeding smoothly.
Development Status
Marvel's Blade was announced in December 2023 at The Game Awards, though full production likely began later in 2024. Given the franchise's history of cancellations and delays, some fans had lost hope. But insider Schpeshel Nick, known for accurate leaks, stated: "A source of mine was only just telling me the other day that while I shouldn't expect to see Blade at the showcase, the game is alive and coming along very well." Another insider, Jeff Grubb, previously hinted at issues but later clarified: "I've checked since. Sounds like there are reasons we haven't seen it, but those reasons are not because there are problems with the game. Not dead."
Official Comments
The last official update came from game director Dinga Bakaba in late 2025, who tweeted: "The team is hard at work, everyone is super proud and out doing themselves. Please be patient, it will be a special game and we all hope it will be meeting the high standards that we set for ourselves and for you all."
Potential Release Timeline
Given typical development cycles of 6 to 7 years, Marvel's Blade may not release until the next Xbox console, Project Helix. However, a trailer could appear at The Game Awards in December or another Xbox showcase in January. The game may also be an Xbox exclusive, following the trend of other titles like Gears of War E-Day and Clockwork Revolution.
