Marvel Rivals lookalike Project Comet is another free-to-play game coming soon

Project Comet, a Marvel action role-playing game developed by Scopely, the studio behind Monopoly Go, has been revealed in a leaked trailer and is expected to be announced soon. The free-to-play title is primarily designed for mobile devices, with a PC version and crossplay support also suggested.

Trailer Leaks Online

A trailer for the unannounced game was uploaded to Chinese social media site Bilibili over the weekend and has since been shared on X. The video showcases a stylised art style similar to Marvel Rivals, though with a slightly muted colour scheme. The audio is completely off and does not match the on-screen action, but the gameplay itself looks legitimate and the English voice acting sounds unique.

Gameplay footage shows up to four players teaming up to battle nameless henchmen and supervillains while exploring different environments across the Marvel universe. Playable characters demonstrated include Spider-Man, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, and Elektra, with Invisible Woman possibly spotted as well.

Developer and Platform Details

Rumours of Project Comet circulated earlier this year thanks to a beta test shared by Marvel games leaker Miller Ross. The beta was only for iOS and Android, and Ross mentioned that the game is in development at Scopely, the company responsible for mobile sensation Monopoly Go and the recent acquisition of Pokémon Go and its developer Niantic. Scopely is a subsidiary of Savvy Games Group, the video game division of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

The upload on X also suggests a PC version and crossplay support, but the video makes no mention of either. Marvel previously tried an action role-playing mobile game with Marvel Mystic Mayhem, handled by NetEase Games, the same studio behind Marvel Rivals. However, it was shut down and delisted from app stores in April, 10 months after launch.

Marvel's Vague Game Plans

Marvel has no new games scheduled for the rest of the year or 2027. There are three announced console and PC projects – Bethesda's Blade, EA's Iron Man, and Paramount's Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra – but none have seen any real updates since their announcements and all seem to be in danger of cancellation.
