Liam Gallagher has reignited hopes of new Oasis music after suggesting he and brother Noel could discuss recording fresh material following their huge 2027 tour.
The Oasis frontman told fans that new songs could be on the cards if the band's upcoming run of shows goes well, despite Noel appearing to rule out new music earlier this month.
Replying to a fan on X on Monday, September 28, Liam wrote: “Listen if all goes well with the tour I guess nxt step is to have a chat about new music can’t see us touring again unless we have new music does that make sense Rasta.”
Fan reactions to potential new record
Fans were quick to react to the possibility, with some welcoming the idea of another Oasis record, while others questioned whether new material could ever live up to the band's back catalogue.
One fan wrote: “Nothing I want more. Dig Out Your Soul felt like a creative peak but I think I see a higher one in the distance. Y'all parachuted off the first one but now you're back. Keep climbing.”
Another was less convinced, posting: “Not sure I want new oasis music wouldn’t be the same you have plenty of biblical songs to go for years to come.”
Meanwhile, one fan account urged followers not to get ahead of themselves, writing: “who knows what happens in the future just be happy day by day.” Liam himself appeared to agree with the sentiment, replying simply: “Exactly”.
Live ’27 tour dates and venues
Oasis will return to the stage in 2027 for a huge international tour, with the first date taking place at Glasgow's Celtic Park on May 21. The band will then head to Manchester for an enormous 11-date residency at the Etihad Stadium, beginning on June 4 and running through to June 26.
The tour will then take the Gallagher brothers across Europe and the US before they return to the UK for a major run of shows at Knebworth in September. The band will now play six nights at Knebworth, with additional dates added on September 25 and 26 following what was described as phenomenal demand.
Oasis will perform at the Hertfordshire site on September 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26. The Knebworth shows are particularly significant for Oasis fans, coming more than 30 years after the band's legendary 1996 concerts at the venue. The original shows saw Oasis perform to huge crowds at the height of Britpop, with the 2027 return set to give fans another chance to see Liam and Noel back on the same stage.
Noel's stance on new material
For now, there is no confirmation that Oasis will record new material. Liam's latest comments suggest the question could be revisited after the Live ’27 tour, rather than confirming that new music is already being written or recorded.
The comments also appear to contradict his brother Noel Gallagher's recent stance on the prospect of new Oasis music. Following the announcement of the band's 38-date Live ’27 world tour, Noel was asked by Talksport whether fans could expect any new material. Speaking to TalkSport, Gallagher said: “There won’t be any new music, no.” Asked whether that meant there would not be any new music at all, he simply replied: “Nah.”
The brothers reunited for their hugely anticipated Live ’25 tour last year, marking their first performances together since Oasis split in 2009. The tour saw them play sold-out stadium shows across the UK and around the world, with the reunion eventually leading to the announcement of Live ’27.
Noel previously explained that the decision to tour again was made during the 2025 run, saying the band had been having such a good time that they began discussing what could come next. The prospect of new music will now give fans another reason to look towards 2027, with Liam's latest comment suggesting the future of Oasis may not end when the final Knebworth show is over.
