The clip, which appeared on Reddit, demonstrates Tony Stark flying around New York and battling enemies atop the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier, complete with rockets and propulsive laser blasts.
What the Leaked Footage Shows
The footage includes scenes set in Japan, suit customisation options, and a boss fight against a giant mech. While some assets are missing in several scenes, the mechanics appear polished. The leak's origin is unclear, but it suggests the project has progressed significantly since its 2022 announcement.
EA's Iron Man game, developed by Motive Studio, was announced in 2022 but has seen little public progress since. Many team members were reportedly shifted to support Battlefield 6, though EA has insisted the title remains in development.
Uncertain Future Amid Layoffs
This leak could signal an official trailer soon, possibly at a future State Of Play or The Game Awards in December. However, EA's recent buyout casts doubt, with major layoffs expected. In May last year, EA cancelled a planned Black Panther game, raising concerns Iron Man could face a similar fate.
Can It Break the Marvel Curse?
Most Marvel games since the MCU's start have underperformed, including Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and Marvel's Midnight Suns. Insomniac's Spider-Man and Marvel Rivals are notable exceptions, with the latter still maintaining a sizeable player base two years after release.
