Joe Jonas is ready to find love again, despite fans acting as detectives over his lyrics. The 36-year-old Jonas Brothers star, who splits his time between the UK and US for his two daughters, Willa and Delphine, discussed his journey during a Zoom interview from London.
A New Chapter in Love
Following his public split from ex-wife Sophie Turner in 2023 after nearly a decade together, Jonas released his second solo album, Music for People Who Believe in Love, last year. He described it as 'reflective of a new beginning of finding love again and feeling loved.'
Jonas acknowledged the curiosity surrounding his lyrics: 'One of the fun things about being an artist is that you can be mysterious and sometimes have people trying to play detective on what lyrics mean. I wanted to be able to say, ‘This is reflective of where I’m at in my life right now, and this is how I feel.’ I’m very proud of that album.'
New Music and Gaming Collaboration
The song Heart by Heart from the album has gained significant traction, leading Jonas to create a music video. He teased that more music is on the way, with 'another one ready to go,' pending his busy schedule.
Jonas also revealed a collaboration with the mobile farming game Hay Day, remixing The Cozy Anthem, the game’s country-inspired theme song. He called it a 'no-brainer,' noting that country music is part of his family heritage through his father, Paul, who was an aspiring country singer. 'Songwriting is one of my favourite things in the world, and to be able to push myself into different genres and try different things. Country is kind of something that has always been around in our family.'
From Disney Rebel to Disney Legend
Jonas and his brothers, Kevin and Nick, will be honored at this year’s Disney Legends ceremony in August, alongside stars like Anne Hathaway and Dwayne Johnson. Reflecting on his past rebellion against the Disney kid label, Jonas admitted he was 'probably too immature' during his first solo album attempt but is relieved he didn't 'burn bridges.'
He teased a return to the Camp Rock franchise for a third installment, now as an executive producer with Demi Lovato. 'I would encourage younger artists to keep your side of the street clean, and don’t burn any bridges, because ultimately, people come back around in your life.'
Embracing a Cozier Life
Now in his 30s, Jonas prioritizes family time and quiet mornings. 'I work really hard, so I have quiet mornings. That’s the goals this month, making breakfast and getting kids to school, that keeps me motivated.' He also hinted at a desire to redo the Jonas Brothers’ Royal Albert Hall performance.
