James Hooton Sparks Strictly 2026 Rumours

Emmerdale viewers are convinced that a beloved Dingle character is heading to the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor this year. The speculation surrounds James Hooton, the actor who plays Sam Dingle on the ITV soap, after a recent episode featured him showcasing his ballroom dancing prowess.

Dance Scene Sparks Speculation

In Wednesday's episode (June 10), Sam Dingle was seen dancing elegantly with his wife Lydia, played by Karen Blick, at Home Farm. The scene prompted fans to wonder if Hooton is preparing for a stint on the BBC One dance competition.

One fan wrote on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page: "I wonder if Sam's doing Strictly." Another replied: "Good call." A third added: "Haha...I think so too." A fourth chimed in: "I thought the same."

Strictly Come Dancing 2026 Lineup

The glittering show returns later this year with new hosts Emma Willis, Johannes Radebe, and Josh Widdicombe. The BBC has already confirmed several stars for the 2026 series, including reality favourite Dani Dyer and EastEnders icon Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey Slater.

Should James Hooton join, he would be the third soap star announced, following Turner and Dyer. Dani Dyer, wife of West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen, previously had to pull out of last year's series but is making a comeback.

Dyer said: "I am so excited to be back in the ballroom this September! I just cannot wait to get my dancing shoes back on, and hopefully this time around I can actually make it to week one! I'm just over the moon and cannot wait to find out who else is doing it!"

Lacey Turner added: "I am so excited to be making my way to the dance floor this year to be a part of Strictly Come Dancing! I am a huge fan and can't quite believe I will be taking part and not watching at home this year! I look forward to meeting everyone and learning a new skill!"
