Havana Club's Golden Mojito: The Perfect Summer Cool Down Drink
Havana Club's Golden Mojito: Perfect Summer Cool Down

Havana Club has introduced a new twist on the classic mojito, swapping white rum for its premium Añejo Especial dark rum to create what it calls the "golden mojito." This variation is being touted as the perfect drink for hot summer evenings, offering a rounder, sweeter, and more balanced flavor profile.

What Makes the Golden Mojito Different?

The key difference lies in the rum. The traditional mojito uses Havana Club Original Añejo 3 Años, a light, citrusy white rum. The golden mojito instead uses Havana Club Añejo Especial, a golden rum aged in white oak barrels with notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and toasted oak. According to the brand, this switch softens the sharpness of lime, resulting in a smoother, more refreshing cocktail.

How to Make a Golden Mojito

The recipe is simple and requires no shaker. Ingredients include 40ml of Havana Club Añejo Especial, 20ml of fresh lime juice, two tablespoons of white sugar, eight fresh mint leaves, and 80ml of soda water. The sugar and mint are stirred together until the sugar dissolves, then ice and soda water are added. The drink is garnished with a mint sprig.

Abigail Nicholson, a content editor who tested the drink, described it as "the perfect cool down on hot nights." She noted that the vanilla and caramel notes from the dark rum make the mojito "even more refreshing and enjoyable after a long day at work."
