Halloween: The Game will be released on September 8 for PS5, Xbox Series consoles and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. UK players can start playing at 5pm BST, while US gamers can begin at 9am PST or 12pm EST.
Deluxe Edition early access
The Digital Deluxe Edition grants early access, allowing players to start immediately for an extra £15. It also includes the exclusive Inmate Michael Myers Skin, two additional Civilian characters (Alexis and Richard), advance access to the Laurie Strode cosmetic and a digital comic.
Controversial mini-game removed
Regardless of the version purchased, the game will not feature the interactive sex scene, which was removed in a recent hotfix. The mini-game provided a stat boost for civilian characters and triggered when two civilians hid in the same wardrobe.
The development team removed the mini-game after discovering a glitch that allowed reinforcement characters such as Samuel Loomis to take part in the scene.
Studio statement and game modes
Studio Illfonic explained: "Players may have noticed that our latest hotfix removed the Two-Person Power-Up minigame. This was due to an unintended issue that allowed end game reinforcement characters to engage with the minigame, which was a major oversight on our part."
The statement suggests the mini-game could return at a later date. In the meantime, fans can enjoy single-player and multiplayer modes at launch. The solo mode, 'The Night He Came Home', sees players hunt prey as Michael Myers. Multiplayer features asymmetrical action similar to Friday the 13th and Killer Klowns from Outer Space, with one player as Michael Myers and four others as civilians trying to survive.
Launch maps include Haddonfield Town Center, Haddonfield Heights, Orange Grove Estates and East Haddonfield.
