Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will not include direct parodies of Florida's most famous theme parks, such as Disney World or Universal Studios, though other Florida landmarks may still appear in altered forms.
The GTA series is known for its satirical take on American culture, but following the departure of co-founder and head writer Dan Houser in 2020, questions have arisen about whether GTA 6 will continue that tradition. Houser himself once said satire in GTA had become more difficult in a post-Trump era.
Rockstar's Response to Florida Parody Questions
In an interview with Game Informer, Rockstar was asked whether GTA 6 would feature locations from Florida's central region, including Orlando's theme parks and NASA's Kennedy Space Center. Paul McPherson, senior vice president of environment art, ruled out direct replicas of those exact locations but suggested representations could exist in different forms.
'We have to constantly evaluate the diversity of landscapes, towns, structures, landmarks, vistas, plant species, rock formations and everything else before we work with design and narrative to distill a list down that best works with and serves the game's needs,' McPherson said. 'So, while we may not have those exact locations, everything we have is geared to getting that full Florida experience.'
Possible Parodies in GTA 6
It remains unclear if a Disney parody is part of that experience, but the series has previously mocked Disney. In GTA 5, a film production company called Fred's Pictures features a logo with Disney-esque font and a black-and-white wolf instead of a mouse. Some fans have spotted a trailer poster referencing Minnie Mouse, though its connection to Fred's Pictures is unconfirmed.
Other Reddit users have noticed a NASA parody called 'NADA' on T-shirts. A screenshot from GTA 6 shows a giant alligator head inside a park, possibly parodying Florida's Gatorland resort, though it could also be linked to the game's confirmed zoo.
Disney World is one of Florida's most famous attractions, making the absence of a direct parody notable. Whether Rockstar is avoiding legal risks or aiming for a more serious tone remains unclear.
