Rockstar Games has made a major announcement for Grand Theft Auto 6, dropping new screenshots and the official cover art for what is expected to be the biggest game of 2026. The reveal has sent fans into a frenzy, but not all reactions have been positive.
New Screenshots and Cover Art Revealed
After more than 13 years since the release of GTA 5 in 2013, the next installment in the franchise is due for release on November 19. This week, Rockstar confirmed that pre-orders for the game will go live on Thursday, June 25. Alongside this announcement, a host of new screenshots and the game's cover art were also revealed.
Fans Compare GTA 6 to GTA 5
However, many fans have noted striking similarities between the new GTA 6 screenshots and its predecessor. One Reddit user commented: "Could have said it's GTA 5 and I wouldn't have questioned it." Another added: "Looks exactly like GTA V." A third user remarked: "Kinda GTA5 with the same lightings." The sentiment was echoed by others, with one saying: "Lol looks exactly like V with the ferris wheel and layout."
Missing Reflection and Demand for Gameplay
Eagle-eyed fans also spotted a missing reflection in the water of a Vice City screenshot, where the ferris wheel overlooked the water without its reflection. This sparked further debate among the community.
Beyond visual comparisons, many fans are clamoring for more substantial content. One user wrote: "Gameplay. Gameplay. Where's the damn gameplay." Another said: "I don't think anyone was debating whether the game would look nice or not. Rockstar needs a gameplay trailer or something like that." A third user called on Rockstar to "give us a reason to open our wallets," adding: "Pre-orders are in a week and I'm expected to drop money on a game that has nothing to show other than some flashy pre-rendered cutscenes that may or may not be in engine."
Mixed Reactions Ahead of Pre-Orders
While the name alone may carry the game, some fans remain on the fence. One user concluded: "What is going on. The name alone will carry it but I am still on the fence." As the pre-order date approaches, the community awaits more concrete details about the gameplay and features of GTA 6.
