GTA 6 Online release date: What we know so far

The first extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay was revealed last night, with a 26-minute video released on Netflix and later on YouTube. The footage offered a deep dive into the relationship between Jason and Lucia, their activities in Vice City, and a closer view of how the game will play.

While fans were largely pleased with the presentation, one notable absence stood out: no mention of GTA 6 Online.

What Rockstar has said about GTA 6 Online

So far, Rockstar Games has said almost nothing about an online mode for GTA 6. The game's FAQ explicitly states that GTA 6 will be a 'single-player only experience'. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has also said very little about a potential GTA 6 Online.

When the game launches on November 19, 2026, it appears players will explore Vice City in a purely single-player setting. With the main story estimated to take around 80 hours to complete, there will be plenty to keep players busy.

When could GTA 6 Online launch?

Despite the silence, it is highly likely that a GTA 6 Online mode will eventually arrive. The mode generates significant revenue for Rockstar and Take-Two, and with GTA Online nearing its 13th year, the team may shift focus from Los Santos to Vice City.

As for timing, GTA Online launched two weeks after GTA V, while Red Dead Online arrived a month after Red Dead Redemption 2. If it does not launch with the game, a release close to Christmas seems unlikely, given the need for staff support during launch. A more probable window could be early 2027, allowing players to experience the single-player campaign first.

Official confirmation of GTA 6 Online has not yet been announced. Further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
