GTA 6 Extended Look drops on Netflix with love story

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look by Rockstar Games premiered on Netflix last night (August 27) at 8pm BST before going live on YouTube six hours later. The 26-minute preview, consisting entirely of in-game footage, is the first official glimpse of the game in over 18 months.

New Map and Characters Revealed

The new single-player game, set for release on November 19 2026, is produced by Edinburgh-based Rockstar North, the lead developer behind the GTA franchise. The map is based in Leonida, the fictional, Florida-inspired US state, and includes Vice City, Grassrivers, and the Leonida Keys, inspired by Miami, the Everglades, and the Florida Keys respectively.

The two new playable protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Camino, are the couple at the centre of GTA 6's Bonnie and Clyde story. The developers explained in a preview on IGN that the characters' story can be impacted by the player's actions, and gamers can choose to develop the pair's romantic relationship or "opt out" if they prefer.

Production and Pricing Details

Rockstar has been building plans for the new game since 2013 and has spent eight years on production. Its budget is thought to be among the most expensive in video game history. The Standard Edition of GTA 6 will cost £69.99, while a premium edition costs £89.99. Pre-orders for the game, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, have been open since June 2026.

The Netflix preview revealed the ability to change control between the two characters at different stages in the game. Varied body shapes and sizes are visible among background characters, with NPCs set to be more reactive than ever, making the world seem more realistic and independent.

Fan Reaction and Legacy

Fans reacted to the trailer online, with one writing: "Just watched to the GTA 6 Trailer and holy sh*t it looks incredible." Another wrote: "Rockstar showed us a 26-minute trailer for GTA 6 and it's already become the best game in history." One proud Scot gushed: "GTA 6 is genuinely going to be generational (makes it better since I'm Scottish and its getting made on my doorstep."

The original creator of the very first Grand Theft Auto game in 1997 was DMA Design, a Scottish company located in Dundee that later evolved into Rockstar North. Since then, the GTA series is estimated to have sold over half a billion copies.
