Gary Neville has announced The Overlap Daily, a new daily show from his football podcast brand. The show will launch on Friday, October 9, with episodes airing every Monday to Friday featuring a rotating cast of presenters and guests.
Why the daily format was needed
Neville explained the decision to move to a daily schedule, saying: "We have wanted to create a daily show for some time now. There was a moment in the last year where a manager was sacked and we didn’t have a programme for seven days - at that point we recognised that we needed to go for it."
He added: "The quality and profile of our incredible host line-up speaks to our commitment to deliver the best insights and debate on the biggest football stories, and we’ll now be doing this daily."
Host line-up revealed
The show will provide fans with a "daily rundown of the latest football news and debate" with regular presenters on certain days, joined by guests. Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard will headline the Monday show alongside Becky Ives, who has covered football, boxing, cricket, and baseball for ITV, TNT Sports, and BBC Radio 5 Live, and was the face of Rangers TV from 2020 to 2023.
Tuesday's show will feature Match of the Day co-host Kelly Cates, joined by Ashley Young and Joe Hart. Cates is one of three hosts for the BBC show who took on the position after Gary Lineker left in 2025. Young has appeared on Sky Sports' Premier League coverage after retiring from football following a spell with Ipswich Town. Hart, who retired in 2023, has become a leading pundit, appearing on Sky Sports and the BBC's Match of the Day and World Cup coverage.
Wednesday to Friday schedule
Jamie Redknapp and Tim Sherwood will front Wednesday's coverage. Redknapp has worked with Sky Sports for more than 20 years, while Sherwood is a regular on Sky Sports shows including Monday Night Football and Soccer Saturday.
Thursday will see Duncan Ferguson and Mark Crossley, both of whom have previously appeared on The Overlap. Crossley has also made regular appearances on other podcasts, such as Undr the Cosh.
Mark Goldbridge will kick off the Friday show, joined by a rotation of Jamie Carragher, Peter Schmeichel, and Hart. Goldbridge said: "I’m very excited to launch Overlap Daily alongside so many highly respected names from the world of football."
Carragher added: "Squad depth is important in the modern game, and joining forces with The Overlap allows us to bring a wider range of perspectives and expertise to the table every day. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve already achieved on YouTube with That’s Football."
Schmeichel said: "We will have a brand-new name, but our approach will be the same, giving our viewers their daily fix of football news alongside instant reactions from both myself and now some of the biggest names in football."
