Fortnite players will face a brief interruption this week as servers go offline for the Winterfest 2025 update. The maintenance period will affect all platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC and Android.
Epic Games confirmed the downtime on X, stating: "Winterfest blows into the Golden Coast! Downtime for v39.11 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand." For UK players, the game will be taken offline at 9am GMT on Wednesday, December 18.
Matchmaking will be disabled at 8.30am GMT, meaning players will need to join a game before that time. According to the Fortnite server status page, downtime is scheduled to last for 90 minutes, with the game expected to return at 10.30am GMT.
The update introduces the Winterfest event to the Golden Coast area. In the US, the servers will go down at 5.30am EDT / 2.30am PDT, while European players will see the return at 11.30am CET.
Epic Games has indicated this is likely the final server downtime of 2025, and the update is expected to bring a range of seasonal content for players.
