Fortnite Server Downtime Scheduled for Major Update 40.41

Fortnite developer Epic Games is taking the game offline for extended server maintenance on May 29, coinciding with the release of update 40.41 across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, iOS, and Android. The downtime begins at 9am BST UK time.

This is the final update of the current season, laying the groundwork for major events. Players must install the update to play once servers are back online. Matchmaking will be disabled at 8.30am UK time, and the downtime is expected to last approximately 90 minutes, with servers likely returning by 10.30am BST.

Epic Games announced the downtime on X, stating: 'Downtime for v40.41 begins tonight at 4 AM ET (8 AM UTC) to prepare for the end-of-season live event on Friday, June 5.' The update will introduce the end-of-season event, Community Day celebration, and the Typical Gamer skin.
