Fortnite Server Downtime for Update 39.40 on February 5

Epic Games has announced that Fortnite update 39.40 will be released on February 5, bringing a new Valentine's event, the Chappell Roan skin, and various crossovers. Server downtime will begin at 4 AM ET (9 AM GMT), with matchmaking disabled approximately 30 minutes earlier.

According to the Epic Games server status page, downtime is expected to last around 90 minutes, meaning the game should be back online by 10:30 AM GMT. The update coincides with the Love and Legends event, which includes weekly Power Hours, free items, new skins, and gameplay changes.

Key content additions include the Chappell Roan crossover in Fortnite Festival, featuring the Roan of Arc outfit and other items. Other crossovers include Honkai Star Rail, Marvel Rivals, and the second wave of K-Pop Demon Hunters. The South Park collaboration is reportedly ending, with the Wonkeeland POI returning.

Update 39.40 also addresses a recoil bug where weapons incorrectly reset the reticle. Battle Royale, Reload, and OG modes will each have a single tile for Battle Royale, Zero Build, and Ranked or Unranked playlists.
