Fortnite's Battle Royale mode may soon receive a proximity chat feature, according to leaks from trusted sources. The feature, which allows players to communicate with nearby teammates or enemies, has been present in Creative Mode since August 2024, and Epic Games has reportedly moved some files that could pave the way for its inclusion in Battle Royale.
Leakers @Wensoing and @Loolo_WRLD have suggested that the feature might be introduced, allowing players to toggle it on or off. If implemented, this would enable direct communication with opponents, potentially leading to increased trolling and banter among players.
The timeline for the launch remains unclear. Historically, there was a four-month gap between hints of proximity chat coming to Creative Mode and its actual release, so a similar wait might be expected. However, the feature could also be deployed sooner if it simply needs to be integrated into the core experience.
While Epic Games has not officially confirmed the addition, the leaks have sparked excitement and speculation among the Fortnite community. Players should prepare for a more social and potentially chaotic experience in Battle Royale.
