Fortnite to Remove Three Modes Including Rocket Racing and Ballistic Next Month

Epic Games has announced that three Fortnite modes will be removed from the game in the coming months, following a round of layoffs that affected over 1,000 employees. The modes being axed are Rocket Racing, Fortnite Ballistic, and Fortnite Festival Battle Stage.

Rocket Racing, a spin-off that incorporates assets from Rocket League, will be taken offline next month. Fortnite Ballistic, a 5v5 tactical mode similar to Counter-Strike and Valorant, will follow on April 16, 2026, including its ranked mode. Fortnite Festival Battle Stage, the competitive version of the rhythm-based mode, will also be removed next month, though the Main Stage and Jam Stage will remain.

These modes currently offer quests and unlockable items for players. Epic Games has not indicated whether they will return in the future. The decision comes as the company faces financial pressures, having laid off roughly 16% of its staff and recently increased V-Bucks prices.
