Fortnite Server Downtime Confirmed for Chapter 5 Season 1 Update

Fortnite is set to go offline for maintenance following the conclusion of The Big Bang event, as Epic Games prepares to launch Chapter 5 Season 1. The downtime will begin simultaneously worldwide at 4:30am GMT on Sunday, December 3 (11:30pm EST / 8:30pm PST on Saturday, December 2).

This marks the second downtime in less than 24 hours, but unlike the brief outage before The Big Bang event, this update is expected to take significantly longer. Epic Games is overhauling the game for a new season featuring rumoured collaborations including Lego, a racing game mode, and a rhythm-based mode.

Typical Fortnite update downtimes last only a few hours, but brand new chapters often require more time. The game could return as early as 9:30am GMT on Sunday, December 3, but may remain offline for up to 12 hours, potentially until 4:30pm GMT.

Leaks suggest the Chapter 5 Battle Pass will include a Family Guy collaboration with Peter Griffin, Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, and a new variant of the game's main character. These additions have been anticipated for years, with Peter Griffin's skin finally arriving after three years of rumours.
