Fortnite Downtime Extended for Major Update v29.40

Epic Games has extended the scheduled downtime for Fortnite's v29.40 update, pushing back the expected server return time by approximately one hour. The maintenance was originally set to end at 1pm BST, but the Fortnite Status website now lists an end time of 2pm BST (9am EDT, 6am PDT).

The extension comes as players await the highly anticipated Star Wars collaboration, which will feature content across all four of Fortnite's main modes, including Battle Royale, Lego Fortnite, and Fortnite Festival. In Battle Royale, players can expect to encounter Darth Vader, rescue Chewbacca, and wield Stormtrooper blasters.

While the delay is relatively minor, it has sparked memories among fans of a much longer outage at the start of Chapter 5 Season 2, which lasted nearly 18 hours. However, Epic Games has not indicated that this extension will be similarly prolonged.

Once servers are back online, players can also participate in Star Wars-themed quests to help complete the Chapter 5 Season 2 battle pass before the season ends. The update is expected to be fully deployed within the extended downtime window.
