Dynasty Warriors Origins on Switch 2: A Top-Tier Handheld Port

Dynasty Warriors Origins has arrived on Nintendo Switch 2, and it stands as another impressive port for the hybrid console. The game, which originally launched on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in January 2025, now brings its epic battles to handheld mode with solid performance.

Koei Tecmo has capped the frame rate at 30fps in both TV and handheld modes, but the game runs stably, making the large-scale combat feel satisfying. Pop-in occurs occasionally during the biggest battles, but the number of enemies on screen remains staggering, and the combat retains its powerful feel.

The Switch 2 version benefits from Koei Tecmo's experience with the Hyrule Warriors series, which also runs smoothly on the console. While the 30fps lock may disappoint some, the trade-off is a consistent experience that doesn't compromise the core gameplay.

One downside is that the new DLC, Visions of the Four Heroes, is not included in the base game when it launches on January 22, 2026. However, the main campaign offers close to 100 hours of content, with plenty of upgrades and side objectives to keep players engaged.

Overall, Dynasty Warriors Origins on Switch 2 proves that with proper care, a port can match the quality of versions on more powerful hardware, joining the ranks of other strong Switch 2 ports like Star Wars Outlaws and Cyberpunk 2077.
