Cruz Beckham gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at his band The Breakers' performance at Reading Festival, sharing intimate footage of his famous family supporting him. The youngest of the Beckham boys took to the stage at the Reading half of the weekend event, with his parents David and Victoria and siblings Romeo and Harper watching on.
Family Support Backstage
In a newly released vlog of what he described as the biggest day of his music career, fans see the close-knit Beckhams embracing Cruz immediately after he came off stage. He reserved the biggest hug for Harper, who told him, "That was insane."
David beamed as he congratulated his son: "That was amazing, well done." Victoria told him: "We are so proud of you, the crowd was great. And I love what you're wearing."
On Stage at The Canopy
While on stage, Cruz addressed the crowd at The Canopy, saying: "This show is our second to last show on this tour and we've had an incredible time. It's been amazing seeing everybody and just want to thank you for all the love and all the support. This next song, I'd like to dedicate to my little sister who's just dancing right there."
He also poked fun at the situation as he entered the arena, welcoming the crowd to the 'nepo tent' with David and Victoria cheering him on. The indie-rock band appeared to lift the mood as the rain bucketed down in Berkshire.
Dealing with Perceptions
In the YouTube video, the Breakers' frontman took fans on a guided tour, which also included him using the urinal before going on stage. He was also seen meeting a queue of fans and posing for photos, before sitting down for showbiz interviews as he spoke about his dreams of making it big in the industry.
In an interview with Dork magazine, Cruz acknowledged why people might be sceptical of him. "I understand that they would think that everything's gonna be a bit s**t and a bit too polished," he said. "But you know, I love music, and I really love playing live, and I'm just excited to be able to do it. My experiences in life have been very different to a lot of people's experiences, but I still feel like I've got something to say."
Gene Gallagher, the son of Oasis rocker Liam, also played with Chris Martin's son Moses and Violet Grohl, the eldest daughter of Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, wowing the crowds. The Breakers were just one of the many bands to take to the stages at Reading and Leeds over the bank holiday weekend. With Glastonbury on a fallow year, the competition has been cleared for Reading and Leeds to be the biggest UK festival of the summer, with huge acts heading to the two cities to perform for hundreds of thousands of fans.
