The Co-op Live has sent fans into a frenzy after sharing a mysterious post on social media teasing a Christmas show.
Social media tease
On Wednesday afternoon (July 29), the arena took to Instagram and X, formerly Twitter, to share a Christmas-themed video of a snow-covered Co-op Live. In the caption they wrote: "All we want for Christmas is..." and added: "The countdown to Christmas is on... announcement coming soon."
Fan speculation
Fans have raced to the comments on both Instagram and X to share their excitement after guessing that the mystery gig announcement could in fact be the renowned Queen of Christmas herself Mariah Carey.
One Mariah fan wrote on Instagram: "If you are plugging this is Mariah Carey and then it’s not there’s gonna be uproar," and another said: "If this isn’t Mariah I’m spending £5 on a Etsy witch to curse this account forever bye x". Other comments include: "Mariah pls!", "MARIAH OMG", and "Omg mariaaahh".
One commenter went down a different road as they guessed: "I bet it’s going to be Michael buble lol", and another said: "It’ll be the jingle bell ball I bet".
And some people think it's way too early to be talking about Christmas, with comments including: "HELLLLLLL NO!! Its not even AUGUST", "Its July. Give over", and "Erm no Christmas it’s not even been Halloween".
Mariah Carey in Manchester
Mariah Carey has only performed in Manchester a handful of time over the past two decades, and not since December 2017 when she brought A Night of Joy and Festivity across the pond.
The London O2 has also shared a similar post on their social media - could Mariah be heading on a UK tour later this year? Further announcements can be expected 'soon' according to the two venues.
