Gearbox is set to release a major content drop for Borderlands 4 on June 25, bringing a new raid boss, endgame challenge, missions, and cross-platform save support. The update, version 1.8, includes both free and paid content, along with bug fixes and balance improvements.

Update 1.8 will be available on June 25 at 11:30 AM BST for UK players, which corresponds to 3:30 AM PT and 6:30 AM ET in the US, and 12:30 PM for European players. The update launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Once installed, players can access the free 'Takedown at Hadron Abyss' content and quality-of-life upgrades. Owners of the Bounty Pack Bundle, Deluxe Edition, or Super Deluxe Edition can also access the paid DLC titled 'A Zane to Kill For.'

The free update introduces 'Takedown at Hadron Abyss,' described as the ultimate endgame challenge. Players must navigate a difficult gauntlet of enemies in a new zone—a secret, fully submerged lab facility that is falling apart. The challenge includes two mid-level bosses and a new final boss called the Child of Terramorphous.
Successfully completing the challenge unlocks rewards including one Pearlescent weapon, nine new Legendary gear pieces, and five new Class Mods.
Paid DLC: A Zane to Kill For
The paid DLC 'A Zane to Kill For' features a new mission and map area, a main boss, and two mini-bosses. The mission is a murder mystery arcade game called 'Private Dick,' set in a neo-noir cityscape. According to Gearbox, 'Private Dick is a game within a game, offering a futuristic, neon-soaked cityscape that doesn't adhere to usual physics, providing a fun contrast to the rest of Kairos.'
Completion rewards include a new Pearlescent weapon, six Legendary loot pieces, a Vault Hunter Skin, a Vehicle Skin, and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin. Additionally, Vault Card 3 offers four rerollable Legendary gear pieces and 24 cosmetics.
Cross-Platform Saves and Quality-of-Life Improvements
Update 1.8 enables cross-platform saves, allowing players to continue their progress on different consoles. The update also includes various bug fixes and balance adjustments to enhance gameplay.
