Borderlands 4 update 1.8 is now available for download on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, bringing cross-platform saves, new free and paid DLC, and a host of gameplay adjustments. Developer Gearbox Studios released the patch notes alongside the Zane to Kill For paid content and the free Takedown at Hadron Abyss mission, which requires completion of the main campaign.
Cross-Platform Saves Now Live
The headline feature of update 1.8 is cross-platform saves, allowing players to upload their progress via SHiFT and continue on another platform where they own the game. According to Gearbox, "Cross-Platform Saves are now live! This feature lets you upload your saves from one platform via SHiFT to continue playing on another platform where you own Borderlands 4." However, SHiFT code rewards like Golden Keys will not transfer platforms and remain available only on the platform where they were redeemed.
Boss Adjustments and Gameplay Fixes
Gearbox reduced the health of Subjugator and Thol the Invincible by approximately 7%. Additionally, Subjugator the Invincible's healing behaviour has been removed from elemental transfusion shifts. Shield Striker's health and shield health were each reduced by 20% to improve Second Wind opportunities during phases where they are the only normal enemies. Shields from Sentinels will no longer block players from Thol's melee attacks, and Thol will target more effectively when jumping close to walls.
Quality of Life Improvements
A new grapple point has been added in the Heart of the Mountain to facilitate smoother navigation. Other fixes include addressing inconsistent visuals, improving voiceover audio, and adding secondary stats to item cards for gear. The update also ensures that Bounty Pack 2 completion rewards only show once, and new characters receive their "Guns Blazing" mission rewards immediately.
