Big Walk beats Counter-Strike and Warcraft in August revenue charts
Big Walk tops Counter-Strike, Warcraft in August revenue

Data firm Newzoo’s latest revenue charts for August show that new releases like Big Walk and Star Wars Zero Company earned enough at launch to stand alongside established live service titles such as Fortnite. While exact figures are not disclosed, the rankings highlight the commercial impact of these recent games.

Big Walk’s Strong PC Performance

According to Newzoo’s data, which covers the top 20 PC games by revenue in the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy for August, Big Walk came third, behind only Fortnite and Valorant. The game, which launched on August 4, outperformed long-running titles like Counter-Strike and World of Warcraft in monthly revenue.

Publisher Panic confirmed that Big Walk sold over one million copies in six days. However, the game did not appear in Newzoo’s top 20 console revenue chart, indicating that its audience is predominantly on PC.

Star Wars Zero Company’s Late-Month Success

Star Wars Zero Company, which launched on August 27, ranked sixth on the PC chart but only 20th on the console chart. Despite its late release, it earned more on PC than World of Warcraft in less than a week.

Developer Bit Reactor had faced financial difficulties before launch, with employees placed on unpaid leave. According to Alinea Analytics, the game has reportedly sold one million copies and generated about $50 million (roughly £37 million) across all platforms as of September 22.

Other Notable August Releases

Mortal Shell 2 reached 14th place on the PC chart and 17th on the console chart. Launched on August 20, it is estimated to have sold over 814,000 copies, a figure likely surpassed by now.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls appeared only on the console chart at 14th place. Despite a rough PC launch, it was estimated to have sold 740,000 copies and made at least $49 million (about £37 million) by mid-September.
