The Apex Legends Winter Wipeout event launches later today, bringing a mid-season update with major changes to Octane, Crypto and Newcastle, alongside new limited-time items. The update introduces hoverboards as a new Survival Item, granting speed boosts, double jumps, wall riding and zip-line surfing. Performing tricks earns EVO points.
Octane receives a reworked passive that heals more when low on health. Using Stim twice in a row triggers 'Stim Surge', reducing incoming damage and healing through damage. Newcastle now automatically reloads weapons when reviving, and his Tactical and Revive shields knock back enemies once. Crypto gains the ability to Trailblaze to allies and earns Ultimate charge from scan beacons and tagging enemies with his drone.
Other additions include three new Wildcards, a rotation of gold weapons (R-301, Rampage, Triple Take), and a change to mobile respawn beacons to address respawn beacon distance issues. The spawn rate of extended and weapon supply bins has been reduced following the return of map icons.
Winter-themed cosmetic items are available in Packs and the in-game shop. The full patch notes detail further balance adjustments and bug fixes.
